An application for a transfer certificate (TC) is written when a student must leave the present school, often because the guardian is transferred.

How to write it

• Start with the date, then the recipient block: “The Headmaster”, the school name and place.
• Write a Subject line about the transfer certificate, then the salutation “Sir”.
• In the body, explain why you must leave the school, such as a guardian’s transfer, and request the certificate.
• End with “I remain, Sir, your obedient student”, then your name, class, roll and section.

With due respect, I beg to state that my father is a government officer and he has recently been transferred from Dhaka to Rajshahi. As the whole family is shifting there, it is no longer possible for me to continue my studies at this school.

For admission into a school at Rajshahi, I need a transfer certificate from your institution. I have cleared all my dues and returned all the books I borrowed from the school library.

I, therefore, pray and hope that you would be kind enough to grant me a transfer certificate and oblige thereby.
