It depends on the university. Many competitive programmes ask for 90–100 out of 120; mid-range programmes accept around 80; the most selective ask for 100–110, often with a minimum of 22–26 in each section. Always use your specific university's requirement.

What is the TOEFL iBT?
The TOEFL iBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language, internet-based test) is administered by ETS and measures how well you use English in an academic setting. It is accepted by more than 12,000 universities in over 160 countries and is the most widely accepted English test in the United States, and popular for Canada.
The test now takes under two hours and has four sections — Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing — each scored out of 30 for a total of 0–120. Because every section counts, a balanced score usually beats a lopsided one. Scores are valid for two years and can be taken at a test centre or, in most countries, at home (the Home Edition).
