Application for New Sports Equipment
Model application to the headmaster for footballs, bats and stumps before a tournament.
A group application listing what has failed and what is needed, with a student contribution offered.
How to write it
- List what you have and what has failed, not only what you want. A request supported by the present state of the store is far harder to postpone.
- Name the items and the quantities. "Sports equipment" cannot be bought; two footballs and a set of stumps can.
- Connect the request to something concrete — an inter-class tournament, a district competition, a physical education period that cannot be run.
- Offer a contribution if the students can make one, however small.

Subject: Application for new sports equipment.
Sir
With due respect, we the students of your school beg to state that the sports equipment in the school store has become unusable. Of the four footballs, three no longer hold air and the fourth has split at the seam. The cricket bats were bought six years ago and both are cracked at the handle, and we have no stumps at all, so the physical education period is now spent sitting on the field.
The inter-class tournament is due to begin in the third week of October, and it cannot be held with what remains. We therefore request that the following be purchased: three footballs, two cricket bats, two sets of stumps, one volleyball and a net. The students of classes IX and X have collected two thousand taka among themselves towards the cost, which we shall gladly hand over to the school.
We, therefore, pray and hope that you would be kind enough to sanction the purchase of the above equipment and oblige thereby.
