A place I’ve long dreamed of visiting is Kyoto, in Japan. I first came across it in a documentary about ancient temples, and I was immediately captivated by the images of wooden shrines surrounded by cherry blossom. If I went, I’d love to walk through the historic Gion district, visit the golden Kinkaku-ji temple, and simply sit in one of the traditional gardens to take in the calm. The main reason I want to go is the contrast it offers to a busy city like Dhaka — Kyoto seems to blend nature, history and tranquillity in a way I rarely experience, and I think it would be both relaxing and inspiring.
