There is little time after HSC results — university admission applications open within weeks and the medical entrance test comes sooner still. The window right after the exams is the real time to decide and prepare.

Preparing for the admission tests
- Start the day after your board exams end — there really is very little time.
- Re-read the textbooks quickly — admission questions come from textbook concepts.
- Focus on MCQ practice against the clock — speed matters most here.
- Check the syllabus and mark distribution of the unit you are applying to first.
- Apply to several universities so one poor test does not end your options.
Most universities add your SSC and HSC GPA to your test score — so a strong board result is your first advantage.
Planning to study abroad
- Starting IELTS or TOEFL preparation right after HSC is the best timing.
- Shortlist countries and universities, then check their entry requirements and costs.
- Scholarship applications usually go in alongside — or before — the admission application.
- An SOP, CV and recommendation letters take time to prepare, so start early.
