The BCS is the most competitive recruitment exam in Bangladesh — and the longest. More than two years can pass between the preliminary and the final result, there are three stages to clear, and each demands a different kind of preparation.

Bangla 35, English 35, Bangladesh affairs 30, international affairs 20, geography and disaster management 10, general science 15, computers and ICT 15, mathematical reasoning 15, mental ability 15, and ethics and good governance 10.
A 200-mark MCQ preliminary, a written exam (900 marks for the general cadre) and a 200-mark viva. Preliminary marks do not count towards the final merit order.
Bangladeshi citizenship, a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university, and being within the age limit set in the circular. Technical cadres require the relevant degree.
It depends on your base — typically one to two years of steady work. But the BCS is a long process, so it is wise to keep a skill or an alternative job route open alongside it.
