Teacher Registration (NTRCA) — Applying, the Exams and Placement

To teach in a non-government school, college or madrasah you must pass the NTRCA teacher-registration exam. One point is widely misunderstood: passing does not itself give you a job — after receiving the certificate you must apply to the mass circular and be recommended against a specific post.

Recruitment syllabuses, mark schemes, age limits and fees change from one circular to the next. Always cross-check against the current official circular before you apply.
The three stages
- Preliminary — an MCQ paper, with 0.25 deducted per wrong answer.
- Written — a subject-based written paper for those who clear the preliminary.
- Viva — an interview for those who clear the written stage, where certificates are also verified.
- The pass mark at each stage is generally 40%.
- Those who pass receive a registration certificate, after which they apply to the mass circular.
The preliminary typically has the same four parts — Bangla, English, maths and general knowledge — so preparation for other job exams transfers directly.
How to apply
- Applications are made online only at ntrca.teletalk.com.bd.
- Your name, date of birth and parents’ names must match your SSC certificate exactly.
- The photo must be 300×300 pixels (max 100 KB) and the signature 300×80 pixels (max 60 KB).
- The fee is typically around BDT 350, paid via Teletalk mobile.
- Eligibility: a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, with the age limit set in the circular.
The mass circular — what follows registration
After you hold the certificate, NTRCA periodically issues a “mass circular” listing vacancies nationwide. You apply to the institutions and posts you want, and recommendations follow from your merit position and preferences.
Recent mass circulars have carried anywhere from a few thousand to nearly eighty thousand vacancies — the opportunity is large, but so is the competition.
Be realistic in ordering your preferences: listing only well-known urban institutions can leave you without a recommendation. Include institutions in your own district and nearby.
