Vanier Scholarship
The Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship no longer exists — fall 2024 was its final competition. Its replacement, CGRS-D, pays CA$40,000 a year and is open to international students for the first time.
CGRS-D Doctoral Scholarship
Canada’s new unified PhD scholarship — CA$40,000 a year for three years, and open to international students for the first time. It replaces both Vanier and the old CGS-D.
Lester B. Pearson Scholarship
The University of Toronto's fully funded Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship — four years of undergraduate tuition, books, fees and residence. Eligibility and how to apply.
Australia Awards Scholarship
Australia's fully funded Australia Awards Scholarship — tuition, living allowance, health cover and airfare for development-focused master's study. A how-to-apply guide from Bangladesh.
Erasmus Mundus Scholarship
The EU's fully funded Erasmus Mundus Joint Master's — study in 2+ European countries with a €1,400 monthly stipend, tuition, insurance and travel allowance. A how-to-apply guide from Bangladesh.
MEXT Scholarship (Japan)
Japan’s Monbukagakusho (MEXT) scholarship — full tuition exemption, a monthly allowance and return airfare. Two routes in: embassy recommendation and university recommendation.
ICCR Scholarship (India)
India’s ICCR scholarship — tuition, a monthly stipend and accommodation at bachelor’s, master’s and PhD level. Bangladeshi applicants have an extra step through the Suborno Jayanti portal.
Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC)
China’s CSC scholarship — tuition, on-campus accommodation, medical insurance and a monthly stipend. The difference between the Type A embassy route and the Type B university route.
Türkiye Bursları Scholarship
Türkiye’s government scholarship — tuition, free state dormitory accommodation, a monthly stipend, health insurance, a flight ticket and a year of Turkish language tuition.
Global Korea Scholarship (GKS)
Korea’s GKS — full tuition, a monthly stipend, return airfare, medical insurance and a year of Korean language training, through either the embassy or a university track.
Malaysia International Scholarship (MIS)
Malaysia’s Ministry of Higher Education award for master’s and PhD study — tuition plus an RM1,500 monthly living allowance. Bangladesh qualifies as a Commonwealth country.
Stipendium Hungaricum
Hungary’s Stipendium Hungaricum — full tuition exemption, a monthly stipend, dormitory accommodation and medical insurance, applied for in two places in parallel from Bangladesh.
Swedish Institute Scholarship (SISGP)
The Swedish Institute Scholarships for Global Professionals — full tuition, a SEK 12,000 monthly allowance and a travel grant, gated on at least 3,000 hours of work experience.
Eiffel Excellence Scholarship
France’s Eiffel Excellence Scholarship — €1,200 a month at master’s level and €2,100 at doctoral level. The crucial catch: students cannot apply for it themselves.
Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship
Switzerland’s government research scholarship — CHF 2,450 a month, health insurance and a rental-deposit grant, aimed at doctoral and postdoctoral researchers.
Government of Ireland Scholarship
Ireland’s International Education Scholarship — a €10,000 stipend plus a full tuition and fee waiver for one academic year, with just 60 places awarded annually.
NL Scholarship (Holland Scholarship)
The Netherlands’ NL Scholarship — a one-off €5,000 in the first year. It is not a full tuition scholarship, and each institution sets its own deadline.
Invest Your Talent in Italy
Italy’s foreign-ministry programme — a nine-month scholarship for master’s study in engineering, architecture and design, or economics and management, paired with an internship.
Ernst Mach Grant
Austria’s OeAD-run Ernst Mach Grant — €1,300 a month for a research stay of one to nine months. It is not a degree scholarship but a short-stay research grant.
Gates Cambridge Scholarship
A full-cost scholarship at the University of Cambridge — tuition, a £21,000 annual maintenance allowance and additional grants, across roughly 80 places in two separate rounds.
Clarendon Scholarship (Oxford)
Oxford’s Clarendon Fund — around 140 scholarships a year covering full tuition and living costs. There is no separate application; applying to the course considers you automatically.
Knight-Hennessy Scholars
Stanford’s Knight-Hennessy Scholars — tuition, a living stipend and a travel stipend across the first three years, tenable on any Stanford graduate programme.
Islamic Development Bank Scholarship
The IsDB Scholarship — tuition, accommodation, airfare and a monthly stipend from bachelor’s through postdoc for citizens of member countries. Bangladesh is an IsDB member.
Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA)
Singapore’s SINGA — S$2,700 a month for a PhD in science and engineering, rising to S$3,200 after the Qualifying Examination, with tuition, airfare and a settling-in grant.
