IELTS Speaking Part 1
Part 1 lasts 4–5 minutes. The examiner asks familiar questions about you — home, hometown, work or studies, and everyday interests. The goal is to sound natural and extended, not rehearsed.
Answer in 2–3 sentences: a direct answer, a reason, and a small detail or example.
“Honestly, I’m not the best cook, but I do enjoy it at weekends when I have time. I find chopping vegetables quite relaxing, and there’s something satisfying about making a meal from scratch rather than ordering in.”
