Overview

DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst) is Germany's largest scholarship provider. Its "Development-Related Postgraduate Courses (EPOS)" programme funds professionals from developing countries — including Bangladesh — to complete a master's or PhD in Germany.

Germany's public universities are already almost tuition-free, so DAAD mainly covers living costs, insurance and travel — making the whole programme effectively fully funded.

What the scholarship covers

  • Monthly stipend of €934+ for master's (more for PhD)
  • Health, accident and liability insurance
  • Return airfare and a study/research allowance
  • A German language course grant where relevant

Eligibility

  • A recognised bachelor's degree (usually with good grades)
  • Typically 2 years of relevant work experience
  • Proof of English or German (depending on the programme)
  • A degree usually completed within the last 6 years
