The class 11-12 English book is not something to memorise. Its units are chosen to build reading ability — and that ability is what serves in the exam’s unseen passage and, months later, in the admission tests.
How the book is arranged
The book is arranged in units drawn from society, environment, technology, human rights and culture. The topics are deliberately serious, because at this level thought is examined alongside language. Each unit carries lessons, vocabulary and exercises, and the exercises are written close to the shape of exam questions.

Preparing for the unseen passage
Because the exam includes an unseen passage, many conclude there is no point reading the book — the opposite is true. What an unseen passage needs is vocabulary and reading speed, and both are built by working through these units regularly. Reading each lesson once without a dictionary and looking words up afterwards is the centre of that preparation.
