The book of a complete work — not an anthology but one whole text.

Class 11-12 Bangla — Sahapath

Sahapath is not an anthology like Sahityapath — it is a complete work, and that changes how it should be read. Memorising fragments of a whole text achieves little; what has to be grasped is the shape of the whole.

How to read a complete work

  1. Read the whole thing through once without taking notes.
  2. Then list the characters and how each relates to the others.
  3. Lay the events out in sequence on a line.
  4. On the second reading, look for what the writer is saying.

How the questions come

Questions from this book usually circle character, event and significance — why someone acted as they did, what lay behind an event, what the work as a whole is saying. A stimulus-based question asks you to find the parallel between the situation given and a character or event in the text, so knowing the characters well makes the answer much easier.
