What if I do not know the answer?

"Let us find out" is enough. Keeping the habit of asking alive matters more at this age than knowing the answer.

Should definitions be memorised?

No. Memorising lets them write it without understanding, and the gap surfaces in class 6.

Must we do the book’s activities?

They pay off. Most need only household things, and what is done is not later memorised.

Class 3 is the first year science comes as a separate subject. This book’s job is not to deliver facts but to keep alive a child’s natural "why" and show where its answers are found.

Why curiosity is the asset

Small children ask questions by nature, and the science book is built to use that habit. But if a question is met as a nuisance at home or in class, the child stops asking — and science becomes a memorising subject. Not knowing the answer is fine; "let us find out" is enough.

How to help at home

When you do not know, look for the answer together.
Do the book’s activities with things from the house.
On a walk, talk about plants, insects and the sky.
Let the child guess before you give an answer.

This book is not for memorising

Primary science carries little terminology and simple explanations, because teaching terminology is not the point. Made to memorise definitions, a child can write them in an exam without understanding the thing — and the gap surfaces in class 6 when explanations start being asked for. Time spent on understanding now reduces the memorising load a great deal later.
