In class 7 the lessons grow longer and sentence structures start to get complex. The skill to build this year is speed — catching the sense of a whole sentence without stopping at every word.
Why reading speed matters
Stopping at every unfamiliar word to reach for a dictionary means forgetting how the sentence began, and then the whole paragraph reads as nonsense. Skipping past the word and finishing the sentence usually lets you infer the meaning from what surrounds it — and that inference is exactly the skill the unseen passage rewards in classes 9 and 10.

The year to start writing
Many students start writing English only in class 9, by which time syllabus pressure leaves no room to practise — and the result is weak sentence construction that persists to SSC. One paragraph a week in class 7 is enough: you will make mistakes, correct them, and two years later writing will be a habit.
How to use this book
- Read the lesson once without stopping at unfamiliar words.
- Then look the unfamiliar words up together.
- Write one short paragraph in English each week.
- Have someone mark the errors in it.
