HSC Board Challenge — Applying for Re-scrutiny

Almost every HSC subject has two papers, so the board-challenge arithmetic needs care here — the fee is per paper, not per subject. Applying for both Physics papers therefore costs BDT 300.
What a board challenge actually is
If you are not satisfied with your result you can apply within a set window to have your script re-checked — everyone calls this a “board challenge”; the boards call it Re-scrutiny (RSC). It is important to understand that the script is not re-marked. The board only verifies whether every question was marked, whether the total was added correctly, and whether the marks were transferred correctly to the OMR sheet.
So do not expect marks to rise simply because you wrote a good script. The result changes only if there was an addition or data-entry error.
How to apply — by Teletalk SMS
Applications are only made by SMS from a Teletalk prepaid SIM, in two steps.
- First SMS: type RSC <first 3 letters of board> <roll number> <subject code> and send to 16222.
- Example: RSC DHA 123456 101
- For several subjects, separate the codes with commas — for example RSC DHA 123456 101,107
- A return SMS gives the total fee and a PIN.
- Second SMS: type RSC YES <PIN> <contact mobile number> and send again to 16222.
- The application is complete when you get the confirmation SMS — do not delete it.
The fee and how it is counted
The fee is charged per paper, not per subject — the most commonly misunderstood point. Applying for a two-paper subject therefore costs two papers’ worth.

Keep enough balance on the Teletalk SIM before applying — a low balance makes the second confirmation step fail. Boards revise the fee from time to time, so check the current year’s notice first.
The window, and when the result comes
- The window usually opens the day after the HSC result is published and runs for seven days.
- No application is accepted after the deadline under any circumstances — do not miss the date.
- The re-scrutiny result is usually published as a PDF on the board’s website within one to two months of the window closing.
- If the result changes the board issues a corrected marksheet; if it does not, there is no separate notice.
- The fee is not refundable, whether or not the result changes.
