Can I change group later?

At class XI admission you can, but not in every direction. Leaving science is easy; entering it is hard, because it requires specific subjects.

Does humanities limit my future?

No. Administration, law, teaching, journalism and economics remain open. A group indicates interest, not ability.

Choosing a group in class 9 is the first serious academic decision most students make, and it is often among the least considered — what friends are taking, what relatives say, and which group is thought "better" carry more weight than they should.

What each group teaches

How to make the decision

Look at your class 8 results subject by subject — where did you actually do well?
Notice which class the time passes fastest in — that is the honest measure of interest.
Count also which subject costs you the most effort.
Ask your subject teachers — they have seen your work.
Then decide, and write down your reason for yourself.

The beliefs that are wrong

"Not taking science means you are not a good student" — a group is not a measure of ability.
"Humanities closes off good careers" — administration, law and teaching are open.
"Business studies is easy" — accounting has a demanding logic of its own.
"I can switch later" — you can, but time has already been spent.

Whether it can be changed later

A group can be changed at class XI admission, but not in every direction — moving out of science into another group is comparatively easy, while the reverse is hard, because science requires specific SSC subjects. The decision is reversible one way and effectively not the other, and that asymmetry should be understood before choosing.
