IELTS Writing Task 2: Working from Home

Question. More and more people are working from home rather than in an office. Do the advantages of this trend outweigh the disadvantages?

Remote work has grown rapidly in recent years. Although it brings some drawbacks, I believe its advantages clearly outweigh them for most employees and businesses.

The chief benefit is flexibility and time saved. Without a daily commute through cities like Dhaka, workers reclaim hours for family and rest, and many report higher productivity in a quieter environment. Employers, meanwhile, save on office costs and can recruit talent regardless of location.

The main disadvantage is weaker collaboration and isolation. Spontaneous discussion is harder online, and some employees miss the social side of an office, which can affect motivation and mental well-being.

On balance, however, these problems can be reduced through occasional in-person meetings and good communication tools. The gains in flexibility and cost make the advantages of remote work greater than its disadvantages.
