No, and this is the most expensive misreading of the programme. 8 January is when the institution files; by then you must already have been picked in its internal round. In practice contact starts the previous summer or autumn.

Eiffel 2027 campaign
For the 2027 campaign, institutions must file with Campus France by 8 January 2027. Your effective deadline is far earlier: internal shortlisting inside the institution finishes during the autumn, so contact has to begin within 2026.

What this cycle pays

- €2,100 a month at doctoral level
- Alongside the allowance: international and domestic travel, insurance and housing support
- Tuition is not itself part of this grant — settle that separately with the institution
Questions about this cycle
Only one institution may put a given candidate forward in a campaign. So while you can talk to several, you must ultimately settle on one — whichever offers the strongest programme fit and the firmest backing.
