Application for Re-scrutiny of an Examination Script
Model application asking the school to forward a re-scrutiny request to the board.
An application arguing from comparison rather than assertion, and stating what re-scrutiny actually covers.
How to write it
- Give the examination, subject, paper, year, board, roll and registration numbers. A re-scrutiny request is processed by number, not by name.
- State the marks obtained and why they are inconsistent with expectation — other subjects, previous results, a test result in the same subject.
- Be careful with the claim: ask for re-examination of the addition and of any unmarked answer, which is what re-scrutiny actually covers.
- Note the deadline and the fee, and say you are ready to pay it.

Sir
With due respect, I beg to state that I appeared at the Secondary School Certificate examination this year from your school under the Barishal Education Board, bearing roll number 152347 and registration number 1912067890.
I have obtained GPA 5.00 in every subject except English second paper, in which I have been awarded 51 marks. This result is difficult to reconcile with my performance in the subject through the year — I scored 78 and 82 in the two test examinations — and with my mark of 88 in English first paper. I do not wish to dispute the examiner's judgement of my answers, but I request that the addition of the marks be checked and that the script be examined for any answer that may have been left unmarked, which I understand is what re-scrutiny covers. I am aware that the application must reach the board within the notified period and that a fee is payable for each paper, and I am ready to pay it.
I, therefore, pray and hope that you would be kind enough to forward my application for re-scrutiny to the board and oblige thereby.

In Bangladesh it is a re-examination of the mechanics rather than a re-marking: whether the marks were added correctly, whether every answer was marked, and whether the totals were transferred properly. Asking for a fresh judgement of your answers misstates what the process does.
By comparison rather than assertion: your marks in other papers, your results in the test examinations in the same subject. That shows an inconsistency worth checking without claiming the examiner was wrong, which is not something a student can know.
Yes. Both exist, and acknowledging them shows you understand the process and are not asking the school for a favour outside it. Do not state the amount from memory — say that a fee is payable and that you are ready to pay it.
