The Admission Result and Merit List — How to Check It

Result day is the most anxious day of the admission season, and the one where most goes wrong. Checking the result is easy; what you have to do in the days that follow is the part that counts.
This page covers how to check it, how the merit list is put together, and what your next move is under each of the three possible outcomes.
Two ways to check
If you are selected, an SMS goes to the number you gave. Do not depend on it, though — at busy times messages arrive late or go missing altogether.
| Method | How it works |
|---|---|
| On the portal | Enter your roll, board and passing year to see your own result |
| By SMS | A message reaches the number on your application if you are selected |
No SMS does not mean no selection. Log in and look for yourself — that is the reliable check.
How the merit list is built
A separate list is made for every group and shift at every college. Everyone who chose that college is ranked by SSC result, and the seats fill from the top.
Ties are broken by rules set out in the policy. And because selection is per college, two students with the same GPA can see different outcomes at different colleges — that is normal, not an error.
Three possible outcomes, and what each one means
| Outcome | What to do now |
|---|---|
| Selected at a college near the top of your list | Confirm within the window — that is the only urgent task |
| Selected at a college lower down | Confirm anyway; migration can still lift you higher |
| Not selected anywhere | Apply in the next phase, weighting the list toward realistic colleges |
The middle row is the most misunderstood. Being disappointed by a lower college and skipping confirmation loses you both the seat and any chance of migration.
Frequently asked questions
Usually two to three days to confirm. The exact window is stated in each phase’s notice, and it is safest to assume it will not be extended.
No, that proves nothing. Messages arrive late or get lost on the network. Check with your roll and board on the portal instead.
First check that your SSC result and preference order are showing correctly. If something is off, contact your education board immediately — once the window closes there is nothing to be done.
Without confirmation the seat is released for other students in the next phase. You are then free to apply again in that phase.
