At HSC too, registration and form fill-up are separate. Registration happens soon after you enrol in Class 11 — that is when your group and subjects go permanently onto the board’s records. Form fill-up comes near the end of Class 12 and produces your admit card.
How the two steps differ
| Aspect | Registration | Form fill-up |
|---|---|---|
| When | After enrolling in Class 11 | Towards the end of Class 12 |
| What it produces | The registration card and number | The admit card and roll number |
| What gets fixed | Group, subjects and personal details | Which papers you will sit |
| Main risk | Errors in name, date of birth or subjects | A missing or wrong paper code |
What you need
- Your SSC marksheet, registration card and testimonial.
- Your birth registration certificate — the source of your name spelling and date of birth.
- Your Class 11 admission confirmation and enrolment papers.
- A recent passport-size photograph.
- The board’s prescribed fee, paid through your college.
Your HSC registration details must match your SSC documents exactly. A mismatch causes problems later in university admissions and job applications.
The form fill-up steps
- When the board issues the notice, the college informs students and announces the deadline.
- You must pass the selection (test) exam — colleges decide what chance is given if you failed a subject.
- The college enters each student’s details, group and every paper code online.
- On the printout, check your name, registration, group, fourth subject and every paper code yourself.
- If it is correct, sign and submit, pay the fee and keep the receipt.
For two-paper subjects, confirm both paper codes are present — a missing paper means you cannot sit that exam.
How to correct a mistake
- Identify exactly what is wrong — name, date of birth, group or subject code.
- Contact the principal or the exam officer at your college immediately.
- Fill in the board’s correction form with photocopies of your birth registration and SSC documents.
- Submit the application to the board through your college and pay the fee.
- Once approved, a corrected card is issued.
Frequently asked questions
Your college issues a registration card after Class 11 registration, and the number is printed on it. It also appears later on your admit card.
You will not be able to sit that paper and your result will be incomplete. That is why checking every paper code on the printout is so important.
Boards usually allow a short late-fee window after the main deadline. The dates and amount are in the board’s notice — watch your college noticeboard.
