Overview
The Malaysia International Scholarship (MIS) is run by the country’s Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE). It is postgraduate only — master’s and PhD — and supports study at Malaysia’s public universities and selected private higher education institutions.
Bangladeshi candidates qualify as citizens of a Commonwealth country. Students already studying in Malaysia may also apply, provided at least two semesters of their programme remain — so applying in a final year achieves nothing.
What the scholarship covers
- Postgraduate tuition fees at approved institutions
- An RM1,500 monthly living allowance, paid every four months against a progress report
- A low cost of living — the same money stretches much further than in Europe or Australia
- English-medium teaching, so no separate language year is required
Eligibility
- Citizenship of an eligible country — Bangladesh is included as a Commonwealth member
- Age — under 40 for master’s applicants and under 45 for PhD applicants
- An intention to study postgraduate full-time, or at least two semesters remaining on a current programme
- A strong academic record and a clearly outlined research proposal

04.Selection, then confirming admission
MOHE selects; in parallel you must secure the university’s own admission offer.
Application cycles
Each cycle has its own page with that round’s dates, figures and changes — kept in step with the official notice.
Frequently asked questions
No — MIS is postgraduate only, covering master’s and PhD. For bachelor’s study in Malaysia the realistic routes are university merit awards or branch-campus discounts, not this government programme.
