Overview

The Chinese Government Scholarship — universally called CSC — is administered by the China Scholarship Council. It funds bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral and one-year Chinese language study, covering tuition, on-campus accommodation, comprehensive medical insurance and a monthly stipend.

Two main routes lead out of Bangladesh. Type A goes through the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka against a country quota, and its deadline usually falls in January. Type B means applying directly to a Chinese university and drawing on that university’s own quota, on dates the university sets. Many applicants run both in parallel.

What the scholarship covers

  • Full exemption from tuition fees
  • Free on-campus accommodation, or an accommodation allowance instead
  • A monthly stipend of roughly ¥2,500 to ¥3,500 depending on degree level
  • Comprehensive medical insurance for international students
  • A wide catalogue of English-taught programmes, especially in engineering and medicine

Eligibility

  • Non-Chinese citizenship and good health
  • Age limits by level — generally under 25 for bachelor’s, 35 for master’s and 40 for doctoral study
  • The preceding degree completed for the level you are entering
  • Language evidence — IELTS or equivalent for English-taught programmes, HSK for Chinese-taught ones
