Overview
Stipendium Hungaricum is the Hungarian government’s international scholarship programme, administered by the Tempus Public Foundation. It funds bachelor’s, master’s, one-tier master’s and doctoral study at Hungary’s state universities with tuition waived in full.
For Bangladeshi candidates the structure is dual, and this is the point that matters most: you submit online in Tempus’s own system and, at the same time, make a parallel application to Bangladesh’s Sending Partner — the Ministry of Education. The nomination comes from that body, not from Tempus.
What the scholarship covers
- Full exemption from tuition at Hungary’s state universities
- A monthly stipend at a rate that varies by level, and is significantly higher at doctoral level
- A free dormitory place, or a monthly contribution towards private rent instead
- Medical insurance under Hungarian law
- A base inside the Schengen area, which makes travel across Europe straightforward alongside study
Eligibility
- Citizenship of an eligible sending country — Bangladesh is on the list
- The preceding qualification completed, or on track to complete in the application year
- Evidence of English or Hungarian, depending on the language of the programme
- Not holding Hungarian citizenship or permanent residence in Hungary
