Can a Dakhil pass get into a general college?

Yes — Dakhil counts as equivalent to SSC and applies through the same central system, with the same group-selection rules.

Can I apply if I failed a subject?

Is moving from Science to Humanities a good idea?

Who Can Apply for Class XI Admission

Eligibility rests on one condition — a pass in SSC or an equivalent. But "equivalent" covers several boards and certificates, and there is a limit on how far back your passing year can be.

Which passing years are accepted

Generally students who passed within the previous three years may apply. Last session, for instance, the 2023, 2024 and 2025 cohorts were eligible.

So taking a year out does not by itself disqualify you. The window is restated in each session’s policy, though, so check your own passing year against the notice.

With an O-Level or a foreign certificate, sort the equivalence out early — it takes time, and not having it in hand during the window can cost you the whole phase.

What you took at SSC decides which groups are open to you in Class XI. The rule runs one way: Science can go anywhere, but the reverse is not allowed.
