Is there any route from Humanities into Science?

Not in the central admission system. Science at SSC is required to apply to Science, and that condition is not waived.

Can I change group after enrolling?

That depends entirely on the college and board rules, and the window is very short. Better to choose correctly at application time than to rely on it.

Does changing group make a seat easier to get?

Sometimes — Science is the most contested stream at the top colleges, so the minimum GPAs in Humanities and Business Studies tend to sit lower. Changing group purely to get in can prove an expensive decision later, though.

How is the group entered on the form?

Each choice asks for the college, shift, version and group separately. Applying to two groups at one college therefore counts as two separate choices.

A Science student at SSC can take Humanities in Class XI. A Humanities student cannot switch into Science. The rule runs one way, and the reason is straightforward: the science subjects build on foundations laid earlier.

Group is added as its own choice on the form, so the decision has to be made before you fill it in — there is no easy way to revise it afterwards.

What to weigh before leaving Science

Leaving Science reaches a good deal further than the two years of Classes XI and XII. Medical and engineering admission tests are closed without it, and many university departments ask for Science at HSC.

For some students, though, changing is the right call — if the interest is not there, or if the science subjects were where the SSC result actually weakened. Two years spent on subjects you do not want rarely beats a strong result in ones you do.

Keep Science if medicine or engineering is anywhere in your plans.
Business Studies opens BBA and the commerce faculties.
Humanities opens law, journalism and the social sciences.
Whatever the group, a strong result is the biggest lever at university admission.
