Confusion about admission costs usually comes from assuming there is one fee. There are three, at three different moments, paid to three different places.
The first goes to the board when you apply, the second at confirmation once you are selected, and the third — much the largest — to the college when you enrol.
Three costs, three stages
| When | What | Paid to |
|---|---|---|
| When you apply | Application fee — BDT 220 last year | The board, by mobile banking |
| After selection | Confirmation fee | The board, through the portal |
| When you enrol | Admission and session fee — the biggest sum | The college |
The application fee is charged once — listing ten colleges costs no more than listing five. There is nothing to save by listing fewer.
The ceiling on a college’s admission fee
A college cannot charge what it likes. The admission policy sets ceilings by area and by type of institution, and charging above them is a breach of the rules.
The figures below come from an earlier session’s policy and are here to give you a sense of scale. They are set afresh each session.
| Area and type | Ceiling (earlier policy) |
|---|---|
| Dhaka metro, MPO | BDT 5,000 |
| Dhaka metro, non-MPO (Bangla) | BDT 7,500 |
| Dhaka metro, non-MPO (English version) | BDT 8,500 |
| Other metros, non-MPO (Bangla) | BDT 5,000 |
| District level, non-MPO (Bangla) | BDT 3,000 |
| Upazila level, non-MPO (Bangla) | BDT 2,500 |
The 2026-27 admission policy was published on 24 August 2026, but the board can still revise dates or figures in a later notice. Check the latest notice on xiclassadmission.gov.bd before you apply. The information on this page was last verified on 28 August 2026.
If a college asks for more than the ceiling
First check the ceiling set for your area and institution type in the current policy — totals are often pushed up through separate heads like "development fee" or "session charge".
If more is demanded, ask for a receipt and report it in writing to your education board — enforcing these ceilings is the board’s responsibility.
Frequently asked questions
No. There is one application fee and it covers the maximum number of choices, so a shorter list saves nothing.
No — it is a separate board fee. The college’s own fee is charged in full when you enrol.
Generally not. So be sure of the college before you complete enrolment, particularly if migration is still active.
Yes — both admission and monthly costs are usually lower. That is exactly why they are more contested, and why their minimum GPAs tend to sit higher.
