What the syllabus covers

SSC 2027 runs on the full syllabus, so Physics covers all of the following:

  • Physical quantities and measurement, units and measuring instruments
  • Motion, force, Newton’s laws and momentum
  • Work, power and energy; transformation of energy
  • States of matter and pressure, buoyancy
  • Heat, temperature and the effect of heat on matter
  • Waves and sound
  • Reflection and refraction of light, lenses and mirrors
  • Static electricity, current electricity and circuits
  • Modern physics, electronics and physics in medicine
  • Practical: the prescribed experiments and lab notebook (25 marks)

How to score well in Physics

  • Note the unit and dimension of every quantity — losing marks to a wrong unit is the single commonest mistake.
  • On the higher parts of a creative question, show the calculation and finish with a one-line conclusion.
  • Write up the principle and precautions for each experiment in advance — the practical is a guaranteed 25 marks.
  • Motion, electricity and light generate the most numerical questions — give them the most time.

A preparation routine that works

  1. Read the textbook chapter yourself first and get the core idea — starting with a guide book leaves the concept half-formed.
  2. After each chapter write a one-page note in your own words: definitions, formulas or key points, and an example.
  3. Solve that chapter’s creative and MCQ questions from past board papers, then check your answers.
  4. Reserve one day a week for revision only — skim every earlier chapter note.
  5. Sit at least one full timed model test a month, then work out exactly where you are losing marks.
